Where do you find information on Home Schooling, based on the American curriculum?

My children attend school here in Canada, but I would like to supplement their education, by home schooling them with an American based curriculum. Any ideas on where to find this, or does anyone have any advice on home schooling?
As a side note, I do plan on spending many months travelling throughout the US for work and will bring my children with me. Also hope to move to the States and eventually enroll my kids in school there. Thanks!!

America doesn’t really have one curriculum. Each State is different, and even within the same state, each district is a little different.
In addition, most states do NOT require homeschoolers to follow exactly what the Public School does.
However, I’d be happy to suggest some homeschooling resources.
For math I like Horizons for K-6 and Teaching Textbooks for 7-12th.

For language arts there are many great things out there, too many to list. I suggest something with lots of literature once the children are reading well. Hewitt homeschooling has some great material.
For science I like the “Christian Kids Explore…” series. Though I don’t know if you are a Christian, and if you aren’t you might not like it too much.+%26amp%3B+Space+Science/037814/1215186219-1880631
For History I like “The Mystery of History”:
I also like to vary what I use; for example next year my studies will be based on a Unit Study called “Galloping the Globe”.
There are many wonderful programs available, I wish you luck in finding the best one for your family.

A great place to look at curriculum is at. They carry resources from many publishers — some Christian, some secular.
Also, order a catalog from Sonlight at. A lot of philosophy and homeschool advice is offered within the catalog along with great resources.

there is a school in Arlington Illinois which supplies an awesome curriculum for both kids who attend there and to homeschoolers.

i used this curriculum, i’m 15 and got a 30 on my ACT. the courseload is alot but if you plan it out over 40 weeks then you should be fine!

you and your children can benefit a lot from home schooling, and it can be quite an enriching experience for the entire family… what i like most about it, is that the things that you teach your kids are more personalized and tailor fit to their needs. what you can do is get into forums and support groups based in the US so that you can get more pertinent information about home schooling… i have a bunch of stuff here that i hope could help you out…
