Each state has their own laws that the parent has to follow. Some states are more homeschool friendly than others. In Californina you actually have 4 options. 1. File a Private School Afidavit 2. Enroll in a Private Satellite School 3. Hire a private tutor 4. Enroll in an independent study program through the public school. The best and most flexible option is the Private School Afidavit. California has no Teacher Qualification or Standardized Testing requirements. Basically you are qualified to homeschool your children in California or any of the 50 states by becoming a parent.

They are all maintained by Mimi Rothschild who is a great home school supporter who home schooled 8 kids then built an online homeschool to help parents ensure their kids get the best possible and even gain a state backed diploma- If you feel your kids might miss something I would try out one of their programs. I use it for my daughter and she loves it and it helps me know she gets everything possible info wise. Good Question,
