I’ve been home schooled my whole life and I might be put in public school?
Debbie7865 asked:
Okay so I am in 7th grade and I have been home schooled my whole life. My mom is thinking about putting me and my sister (she’s in 7th grade also) into public school for 8th grade. I’m scared because I’ve never experienced it before and because I might get picked on. Help! Any tips or comments?

Just act as if you were transferring from a different public school.
Act as you did when with any youth group. Teacher

you’re not going to get picked on… everyone thinks the new kid is cool and everyone always wants to talk to them. you’ll fit in in no time. Alex

yes, you might have some problems fitting in. not only that, you might have some problems keeping up. home schoolers get their lessons tailored specifically for them, and completed at a pace that is designed for them and them only. public schools have thirty-ish kids in each class. the teacher will not slow down for you, and most likely not move deadlines to accommodate only you. i would just keep my head down and concentrate on my work, as it is difficult to catch up once far enough behind in public school. if you continue to be yourself then friends will come naturally. everyone fits in somewhere.
