I am tired of people saying it is better if you are public schooled. I am 15 and in 11th grade and have been home schooled all my life. ( I have loved every minute of it) How about you?
For Thinking… my parents don’t teach me I learn of the TV because they both have jobs and don’t have time to teach me.

    I AM SICK OF IT!!!!!!

  3. Shiori_hime Says:

I’m sick of it mostly because these people tend to be completely clueless about the reality of homeschooling. They’re not saying it because of personal experience or real research, they’re saying it because it’s what everyone else says. It’s ignorance, pure and simple, and it’s annoying.

I’d like them to tell me how I am going to go to a public school, *grin*.

(The only public school for 500 miles was shut down back in the 1980s, more than 5 years before I was born; and the closest private school is a 2-day drive away from our home)

I feel the same exact way! I’m 15 and in 10th grade.

    Me!

It’s fine if their kids do well in public school, many do. However, the judgmental air of them saying they know what’s best for my child gets old.

I am rolling my eyes, (on the inside), and being polite on the outside. They just don’t know the truth. (The truth being that HSing can be wonderful and liberating).

i think its better to go to school.. don’t u hate to spend all the time alone? i think that would be so tired, and i really like to go to school cause you can get to know lot of cute guys and have lots of friends, i think sometimes its good been home schooled i just think that it might be a little boring! =S

I am tired of people implying homeschoolers spend all their time alone, and don’t experience anything. As if there is no life outside of school.

Its like they believe the whole world shuts down while they are in class. But, it doesn’t. There are plenty of people out here with whom to interact and places to visit. There’s a lot more going on out of the classroom than in it.

I can’t fathom how public school can be considered better than homeschool.

I’ve loved every minute of homeschooling my kids :D

I’ve been homeschooled since the 5th grade, and I hate every minute of it.

wow…one of the best q’s on yahoo answers…ever. YES! I hate it when people say “i need to have fun” or “i’m wasting my childhood”. it really hurts…I haven’t been homeschooled all my life but i’m definetly farther academically now than if i was on the public school track (i’m like 4 grades ahead as a freshman lol). as for socially i am definetly further too! i have like twice as my friends now then what i did in public.

for all the people who said homeschooling is worse: why can’t you just keep that to yourself?? we’re obviously not changing our minds about homeschooling…..seriously people

I am not home schooled and do not homeschool my daughter either. I believe that everyone of you has it wrong. Those of us who do not participate in home school, do understand it more than you think. It just so happens that, for some students, school is necessary or the only possible solution. Those of you that are home schooled are fortunate that your parents can find time to make a living and educate you. However, some people can’t afford to do homeschooling because of time issues and I will never permit my child to stay home alone all day without supervision.
Ultimately, this whole issue boils down to a choice that should be made by parents with minimal input from the child. And children these days need to learn to respect their parents and all other adults (a much bigger cause of some of the issues mentioned with public schools). Too many young people do not respect adults and understand that they know what is good for you. The issue of homeschooling is a family choice and is something that families should do together and should not be open to public decision.

I know it is not what you want to hear, but unfortunately it is true. It is an issue far beyond what many people understand and includes a great deal of outside influences.
