Suddenly occurred to me last night that perhaps the reason why kids who’ve gone through the public schoool system view home educated kids as “geeks”, “lacking in social skills”, “weird” etc is that our social skills are more subtle, mature and sophisticated than their’s and it takes them some time to catch up!

Maybe whilst that “catching up” process takes place, the social skills of your average home-schooled kid *DO* appear totally out-of-kilter with, and ‘wrong’ when compared to, the social skills of your typical ex-public school kids.

Hi, I’m a freshman and my current school had affected me emotionally and mentally so I applied a transfer but I’ve been waiting for their acceptance for a month now and I thought of being home schooled or home study for the meantime until I get my acceptance to the other school? Is that possible?

im thinking about home schooling but want to see what is available in my area as far as groups/co-ops and things like that for my kids to be around other kids as I feel this is very important. They do not like sports, so thats out. How do I find out this info? This or any info would be helpful, I know nothing about homeschooling! =)
I live in a pretty small community and I have only met 2 homeschooled families and they don’t belong to any co-ops or groups. No one at my church home schools. I have tried doing searches but havent found anything.

i went to public school up until 7th grade and then in 8th grade i went in to home school and i really hate it. next year i will be going into 11th grade and i would like to go back to public school. i want to know if they would let me go into the grade i’m supposed to be in which will be 11th. and i’m pretty good at all my subjects except math.
