gift454pm asked:
I am addressing this question to parents that home school their children and follow Christ. What are you so afraid of that you choose to limit your children’s exposure to you and your views alone? God is testing the faith of his creation (humans assuming we are the only ones being tested) constantly according you. So doesn’t it make sense to let your kids be exposed to others and coming back to you for answers or guidance? Exposing them to only you and people like you is not preparing them but setting them up for shocks as young adults. Do you worry about this with your children?

MrZ asked:
I think there are several reasons. I know there are several possible answers to this question. I think most will revolve around: (1) religion, (2) that public schools do not do a good job of teaching; (3) that parents are scared of the influence of other students; (4) that parents are trying to protect their kids from anything negative (ie: overprotecting their kids). I taught public school for 30 years, and am a strong proponent of public education. I know many pro’s and con’s of public schools, but I think many parents are perhaps misinformed or misguided or led by media reports to think that public schools are somehow very bad. I think they are very good, and offer many opportunities not available to the homeschooled kids. I do not care if you agree or disagree, I just would like to hear some truthful reasons from home-schooling parents. Others may also join in. I will make no judgement of you, I just want to know the answer to this question.
Terri, I did not ask you to defend yourself, or make fun of my question. I asked a very sincere question, and all you do is defend yourself and mock me, but you never answered! So I reported you, and I hope they take your question off. I’m also surprised so few people would choose not to answer this question, and instead react so defensively. I’m not judging you at all, I made that clear. Stop judging me. Give me the truth, please.
Terri, I meant take your ANSWER off, not question.

Mass Appeal asked: If you live in a rural/suburban/urban area and you home school your child, how far is the nearest public/private school from your home? Did u decide to home school your child for your/their convenience?
I was misspelling the term “homeschool” on purpose….lol
Im not saying people choose to homeschool as a matter of convienence, but did it play a factor?
If anyone homeshcooled for JUST convienence, It would be a shame.
No major term paper on homechooling, I just like to expand my mind and learn new, interesting facts each day. When I go back to school, I’ll think about doing a research paper on this subject.
The internet is great!!!!! You can chat with people from different walks of life to learn numerous things.

Janis B asked:
I think I quoted that correctly. I see that answer many times on Yahoo!Answers. Our state is home school friendly but they do not supply home school programs unless student is homebound due to illness or pregnancy. It would be interesting to know which states are home school friendly to the point of supplying books and teachers.

Scocasso ! asked: I would like to home school my children (Canada), but with all the money it takes just to keep a household running these days two parents would have to work, no?
Supporting-questions:
Is home schooling only for families where the income of one parent is enough to support the whole family? Isn’t that the whole point of putting the children in public school, so both parents can work (and support the ‘economy’; help the rich get richer; etc.)?
I’d like to thank everyone for their comments, I appreciate it [ignoring the idiotic ones].
I’ve just read through all of the answers people have given me, and wow, it’s going to be difficult to choose a best answer, so don’t feel bad if I don’t choose yours, I’d like to choose about 5 of them, at least.
Regarding government support: In Canada, you can do public schooling at home (i.e. following the public curriculum and sending off homework to get marked by a teacher somewhere). There are lots of these because of long-distance education needs as the country is very spread out. But, when the government is giving you support, they want control. That’s another issue, as I was not impressed with my education, or lack thereof. We all had more fun at recess and lunch than at any other time. Art and cooking classes were OK. Science class had its moments. That adds up to a few good hours of memorable and useful education over the course of 13 years. I graduated high school not having any practical skills which I could use to get a good job and live life.

noremac1999 asked:
I home schooled my son for 2nd grade this past year. He is about to go back to public school. I have some text books, math manipulatives, and other teaching aids I would like to give someone who really needs them and can come pick them up. Anyone interested?
I have Saxon Math for 2nd Grade, Teacher’s Edition, Scott Foresman text books for science and social studies, math manipulatives such as geoboards and base ten blocks. I do not have the level of reading texts you are looking for as my son was way above grade level also.
